Halifax winter parking ban starts this weekend

The winter overnight parking ban is coming back soon in Halifax.

Between Sunday and March 31, drivers won’t be able to park on the road during any declared weather events and for snow plows to get by, according to a news release from the city.

The city says the best place to get reliable information is the city’s page on X, formerly Twitter, by visiting the city’s services update page, or by calling 311.

They will also notify people on the hfxALERT system, which notifies people of urgent and non-urgent notifications, here. But the city says that’s not the most reliable place or the fastest place to get information.

When the bans are in place, you won’t be able to park on the road between 1 a.m. and 6 a.m.

People should plan ahead for when the forecast predicts snow to find alternative parking, the city says.
