Two significant power outages in Halifax Friday morning

Two neighbourhoods are in the dark due to power outages this morning.

About 1600 customers are affected by an outage in Highfield Park because of a car vehicle accident.

Nova Scotia Power says the electricity stopped at about 5:40 a.m. and it should return by 8:45 a.m.

Another 1600 customers are affected along the Halifax harbour from Hollis Street to Point Pleasant Park. That outage started at about 5:25 a.m. and should be restored around 9:30 a.m.

Nova Scotia Power says it was caused by a transmission interruption.

As of 7:45 a.m., a third smaller outage is affecting about 260 customers near Spencer Avenue by Long Lake, and the cause is being investigated.
