4 arrested in home repair scam

Four men are facing charges in a home repair scam.

It was January 6 when police say they responded to a report of home repair fraud in progress.

They then received about four calls regarding the scam between January 5 and 10.

A group of four men were going door-to-door throughout HRM, offering to repair chimneys using fake company names:

  • Nova Construction and Masonry
  • All Seasons Construction
  • Firmway Construction
  • Marshall’s Construction
  • Rideau Masonry and Roofing

They would convince victims, who were mostly seniors, to inspect their roofs and identify repairs and scam them out of large cash deposits.

They would never return to complete the work or would do a sub-par job.

The suspects were arrested last week and range in age from 23-38 years old.
