A new incentive to for property owners who want to build a second unit in HRM.
The city says the Second Unit Incentive Program will offer grants that help with costs related to water and wastewater.
If you are eligible, you can get up to $12,000.
It is through the Housing Accelerator Fund to help increase the number of homes available in the city.
You must own a single unit and be up to date on property tax payments.
You also need a building permit.
Applications are open until June 1, 2026.
