Man in crisis found after arson call at Hammonds Plains gas station

RCMP say a man they believed was in a mental health crisis has been found safe.

At about 7 a.m. Friday, police received a report of an arson attempt at a gas station in Hammonds Plains near the intersection of Kingswood Drive, according to a news release.

Through the investigation, they started looking for the 40-year-old as a missing person.

RCMP spokesperson Guillaume Tremblay says there was minimal damage to the gas station, but the man fled with burns to a pant leg of his jeans.

There was no danger to the public.
