The city council will vote on whether to extend the students bus pass program on Tuesday.
The pilot project started in 2021 with four high schools. It has since expanded to 59 schools and 30,000 students between grade 7 and 12.
Halifax is working to make it a permanent program, but they need to find long-term funding first.
In the meantime, a report recommends they extend the program for the next school year.
If the motion passes, it would also give free bus passes to homeschooled students.
