Patio returns to Halifax wine bar after nearly two years

After a nearly two-year battle, a wine bar in downtown Halifax will get its patio back, just in time for summer.

The city ordered scaffolding to go up around Obladee after a piece of the structure fell and hurt someone.

Because of financial trouble, the building owner could not fix it.

Obladee owners Christian and Heather Rankin said their restaurant would not survive the season if they did not get their patio back.

They called on the city to step in and Mayor Andy Fillmore backed them up. The city then reassessed the state of the building.

The owners previously told our newsroom that the scaffolding was preventing a lot of people from noticing the bar.

But now it is higher up so people on the street can see the bar a lot easier.

And workers have already installed a large portion of the patio.
