More child care spaces coming to East Preston in the spring

More child care spaces are coming to East Preston Day Care Centre.

Tina Fraser, Executive Director for the centre, says their organization has grown a lot in the last few years, and it’s helping them offer more quality child care to families.

“This newest expansion will allow us to continue to support more employment opportunities within our communities. We are thankful and blessed to be given this opportunity to continue to grow,” said Fraser.

The province is spending more than $2 million to create 48 new spots. The additional spaces will be part of a new build next to the current location on Highway 7. Infants, toddlers and preschoolers will be able to sign up.

The province says they expect the location to open in April.

“Creating more child-care spaces in African Nova Scotian communities like East Preston means our children grow up in early learning environments that reflect and respect who they are. It also means supporting parents, creating jobs and strengthening our whole community,” said Minister Twila Grosse, who is also MLA for Preston.
