Police watchdog investigating incident that injured man in Halifax’s north end

The province’s police watchdog is looking into an incident that left a man hurt in Halifax’s north end.

Police say officers were responding to a report of a stolen bike last week when they located a 37‑year‑old man riding on Nora Bernard Street. During an attempt to stop him, a police cruiser made contact with the bicycle, causing serious injuries to the rider.

The man was taken to hospital, where he was diagnosed with a fracture.

Because of the injury, the Serious Incident Response Team (SiRT) has taken over the investigation, which is ongoing.
