It must have been a scary night for a woman and child in Halifax earlier this week.
Tuesday night around 7:00pm police responded to a robbery in progress at the Dollarama on Dentith rd. Police say the two men threatened employees then stole two cash drawers.
The two suspects then ran to the No Frills store on foot and entered an occupied vehicle, in the parking lot, along with another man. Bystanders started to intervene, so the two other men got out, leaving the driver alone with the woman and child and he drove away.
Shortly after, the woman and child were able to leave the vehicle, unharmed.
Police spotted the vehicle in the area, but the driver wouldn’t stop. It became unsafe for them to pursue it, so they stopped. But around 8:20pm, they located the vehicle abandoned and used the K9 unit to locate the man at a residence where he was arrested.
He will appear in Halifax provincial court at a later date to face these charges:
-Robbery
-Dangerous operation of a conveyance
-Flight from a peace officer
-Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
This morning at approximately 1:45 a.m. officers arrested one of the suspects who had fled from the stolen vehicle near the 400 block of Herring Cove Road in Halifax. A 21-year-old-man, is scheduled to appear in Halifax court today to face two counts of robbery.
The investigation is ongoing by members of the General Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division. Police are continuing to seek the third suspect who fled from the vehicle in the parking lot.
The suspect is described as a white man, thin build, wearing a black jacket with the hood up, something red, possibly a t-shirt, underneath the jacket and his face was covered.
Investigators are asking anyone with information about the incident or video from the area to call police at 902-490-5020. Anonymous tips can be sent to Crime Stoppers by calling toll-free 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), submitting a secure web tip at www.crimestoppers.ns.ca or using the P3 Tips App.
