8 charging stations for electric vehicles coming to HRM

With many drivers making the switch to electric vehicles, the city is set to add eight new charging stations around HRM this summer.

Ten more will be added over the next year, with more coming in the future. It’s part of the city’s Climate Action Plan with charging infrastructure as one of the four key focus areas. The strategy includes details on the amount of charges needed, locations and overall cost. An electric vehicle strategy was approved in 2021.

Charging stations will be found at gas stations and businesses. The sites were based on existing infrastructure. A Level 3, fast charging station will $45/hour, while the Level 2will charge $1.80/hour.

The sites should be ready to go by August.
