Musicians and fans helped Dartmouth bar raise over $27 thousand for wildfire relief

A concert at a Dartmouth bar raised over $27,000 for wildfire relief.

Musicians and fans came together at Monte’s Showbar Grill, spearheaded by singer-songwriters Robert Campbell and Maurice Aucoin.

Over 70 musicians performed June 11, in the fundraising campaign that lasted all day and was livestreamed including:

Sam Moon, John Campbelljohn, Shirley Jackson & Her Good Rockin Daddy’s, Asif Illyas, Lisa Richard, Joe Murphy, to name just a few..

“Music has a unique ability to bring people together, to heal, and to inspire. I am humbled by the support shown by fellow musicians and all the folks who helped make this happen. This is a true testament to the strength of our musical community and Nova Scotia at large,” said Robert Campbell.

Two levels of government are dollar matching, which means over $81,000 goes to those affected.

“When faced with adversity, it is crucial that we stand together and support one another. The response to this fundraising campaign has been nothing short of extraordinary. It is heartwarming to witness the resilience and compassion of our community, and I am grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the wildfire relief efforts,” Maurice Aucoin said.

All the money raised goes to the Canadian Red Cross for Wildfire relief.
