RCMP remind people to stay safe

With rainy conditions on the way, the RCMP are reminding people to be careful if your weekend plans include travel. They shared the following tips:

  • Give yourself extra time to arrive at your destination
  • Wear your seatbelt
  • Drive sober; if you’ll be consuming alcohol or cannabis, plan ahead
  • If driving in heavy fog or downpours, ensure your vehicle’s lights are on so that others can see you
  • Watch your speed and make sure you’re driving safely for the road and weather conditions
  • Stay focused and avoid distracted driving

They also said that if you’re planning on hitting the trails with your off-road vehicle, to wear the appropriate safety gear, like a helmet, and let others know where you’re going and how long you’ll be gone.
