One youth dead and three others taken to hospital after suspected overdoses in Cole Harbour

One youth is dead, and three others taken to hospital after four suspected overdoses in Cole Harbour.

RCMP say the first incident was Sunday afternoon around 12:45pm where they found a youth and two others at a home. They seized a small amount of an unknown substance in pill and powder form as well as drug paraphernalia.

Later that evening around 9:30pm a 34-year-old man was also taken to hospital with was believed to be another overdose.

RCMP warn the public of the dangers of illicit drug use.

Common signs of a drug overdose could include:

• Slow or absent breathing
• Blue or grey lips and fingers
• Dizziness and confusion
• Severe drowsiness or inability to wake a person up
• Snoring, choking or gurgling noises

RCMP warn if you suspect someone has overdosed or is in medical distress call 911 immediately.
