Halifax-area councillor announces cancer diagnosis

A Halifax-area councillor has announced a health battle.

Paul Russell, who represents Lower Sackville, said in a statement on social media, that he has cancer in his head and neck area.

He said it will require almost two months of treatment.

He said over the next two to three months it will ‘significantly change’ his ability to meet and work as much as he has been. He said it will be a big change and to not provide an explanation, he adds, would be ‘irresponsible’.

Russell asks for patience and understanding as he puts his health above everything else.

Russell was voted in to represent District 15 in 2019.
