Parts of Nova Scotia are getting messy weather just ahead of Thursday night’s official arrival of winter.
Environment Canada has issued freezing rain, rain and wind warnings for parts of the mainland and Cape Breton.
There are also blowing snow advisories for the Highlands with winds gusting to 90km/h and 10-15 cm of snow until late Friday.
Poor visibility in snow and blowing snow is expected or occurring.
RCMP warn of Black ice, saying there have been collisions province-wide, especially on Hwy 104 from Cumberland to Cape Breton.
Expect further travel disruptions: the ferry to Newfoundland is cancelled and Bay Ferries has also cancelled its mid-day crossings between Digby and Saint John.
Delays and or cancellations are starting to show at the Halifax Stanfield and Sydney Airport, so check your flight status before heading out.
As well, some NSCC campuses are closed today.
