Country Music Duo Maddie and Tae Are Calling It Quits

On Hot Country Mornings with Jody & Melody we shared with you on your Country Catch Up that after 15 years of making music together, Maddie & Tae are calling it quits. The duo said the decision was, quote, “heartbreaking.” Maddie added that they’re leaving things open ended. She said maybe they’ll record another album one day, maybe do some shows but “in this season” it didn’t feel right to keep going. As far as their friendship, it’s still solid. In fact, they said stepping back from their career will actually help them become better friends.

The turning point came during a sad phone call back in September. Tae told Maddie her heart was at home, and Maddie said, “Okay. Then that’s what we need to do.”

Tae says she is stepping back to raise her kids, and Maddie is heading into a solo chapter. We wish them both nothing but the best.
