Blasting to begin at QEII as part of expansion

For the next several months, there will be blasting at the construction site at the QEII Halifax Infirmary.

The province says those in the immediate vicinity, may experience some mild vibrations and noise, every day at 3:30p.m. for about three to five seconds.

As a warning, you will hear an air-horn three times, then one more time after the blast to signal the all clear.

The work is part of the QEII Expansion that started in March.

It will include an acute care tower with 216 patient beds, 16 operating rooms, upgraded diagnostic imaging, laboratories and treatment spaces, and a larger, more efficient emergency department to provide care to more patients.

The site is on Bell Road between Robie and Summer Streets.

Blasting will start Tuesday and last until October.
