Transport Canada rescinding approval for Dartmouth Cove infilling: MP

A huge win for the people of Dartmouth.

MP for Dartmouth-Cole Harbour, Darren Fisher says Transport Canada is rescinding its approval for the Dartmouth Cove infilling.

The issue has been a hot button topic for the community with many residents fighting against the project.

It would have local construction company Atlantic Road Construction and Paving dump loads of pyritic slate into that section of the harbour.

Transport Canada had approved the project, but it still the needed the ok from the Department of Oceans and Fisheries.

Fisher says he wrote to the Federal government in April asking for them to take back the ok they had granted.

He says he has spoken with the Minister of Transport and learned that on Friday Transport Canada had started the process.

Fisher thanks Friends of Dartmouth Cove and everyone who attended community meetings and reached out to political representatives.
