Sackville arena will get money for ice: councillor

The Sackville Arena will get money for their ice rink this season.

The president of the arena association was frustrated that the city was slow to pay for it and posted online to say the rink would not have ice.

Lower Sackville councillor Paul Russell says he’s been planning to get them $50,000.

“I’ve been working with city hall for a couple of months now to make sure that the LDRA (Lake District Recreation Association) was able to get the financing that they needed for this year,” he said.

He says the city had to write a report after the rink missed the window for the 2024/25 budget.

The city will officially vote on whether to give the funds to the rink later this month.
