Drunk woman arrested after driving in wrong direction on Hwy. 104

A 911 tip led to the arrest of a 39-year-old woman who was driving drunk down the wrong side of Highway 104 near Salt Springs.

Cumberland County RCMP say it happened last Friday, Sept. 18, when someone reported the car heading westbound in the eastbound lanes just after 12:30 a.m.

After pulling the car over, officers say the driver was showing signs of impairment, and they arrested her.

The Pictou County woman was taken to the Amherst RCMP Detachment where she was breathalysed. The samples came back as 190-200 mg%, which is about 2.5 times the legal limit.

She was released and is scheduled to appear in Amherst Provincial Court.

RCMP thank the public for their assistance, noting that reporting incidents like this helps officers take dangerous drivers off the road before more serious injuries or death happen.
