Hal-Con 2026 brings big names for sold out convention

The biggest pop culture convention in Atlantic Canada is back.

Vendors, cosplayers, pop culture fanes and big-name guests from comics, TV, movies and more will fill the Halifax Convention centre from Nov. 6 to 8th for Hal-Con 2026.

Acadia Broadcasting’s own Surge 105.1 will be on-site again providing the rock soundtrack.

The convention begins Friday around noon.

The big full day of events is Saturday from about 9 a.m. until about 9 p.m., with some events happening even later.

On Sunday, things begin again at 9 a.m., leading up to the popular costume contest at 4:15 p.m. and closing ceremonies at 6 p.m.

For a full list of events, check out the Hal-Con website.

Lots of guests from Canada and beyond

Eisner-nominated comic creators will be there as well, including Erica Schultz, Keezy Young, along with the multiple award-winning Liana Kangas, and even more.

Authors attending include Fonda Lee, Paul Tremblay, P Djèlí Clark and others.

For actors, you can meet some sci-fi icons like Jonathan Frakes, who played Commander William Riker on the TV show “Star Trek: The Next Generation.”

Another sci-fi star is Emily Swallow, who played the armorer in the “Mandalorian” and “The Book of Boba Fett” TV shows.

You could also meet Jason Lee, most known for playing Early Hickey in the TV comedy “My Name Is Earl.” Ethan Suplee, also of “My Name Is Earl” fame, and The Wolf of Wall Street fame, will be there. And you can spot Chad Michael Murray, featured in the locally-filmed “Sullivan’s Crossing,” as well as One Tree Hill and Cinderella Story.

Three vampires from the Twilight series are joining: Peter Facinelli, Kellan Lutz, and Jackson Rathbone.

A few guests defy categorization, like Chanze McCrary, featured on the massive comedy YouTube channel Smosh, which boasts more than 26 million subscribers, but he has also done work in theatre and musicals.

Another multi-media guest is Clint McElroy, who has written for Marvel Comics performed in the theatre, and co-hosted The Adventure Zone with his sons, a podcast where they play Dungeons and Dragons, which was adapted into a series of graphic novels.

Tickets have already sold out for the massive convention.
