Fire Crews Tackle Mount Uniacke Forest Fire Saturday

An eventful weekend for firefighters in the HRM and Hants County.

Members from a dozen different departments responded to a forest fire in Mount Uniacke on Saturday afternoon.

At one point, the fire was burning out of control, but not spreading, according to the Department of Natural Resources and Renewables.

RCMP and a DNRR helicopter were also on scene, as Highway 1 near Pentz Drive was closed for most of the day.

Police tweeted early Saturday evening that the two hectare fire was under control.
