No serious injuries reported at encampment fire in Halifax

No one was seriously hurt after a fire at Grand Parade.

Shortly after 6:30 a.m., Monday, firefighters were called to the encampment for a report of a tent on fire.

The HRM says crews found a propane appliance, two 20 lb propane tanks and two lawn chairs on fire, which they extinguished.

A nearby tent was also damaged and a person received medical treatment at the scene.

The city says the fire captain completed an investigation and the cause is undetermined.

Meantime, the latest provincial temporary shelter opens at the Halifax Forum at 4 p.m. Monday.
