Controversial housing project in Fall River moving ahead

The province is pushing ahead with a controversial housing project in Fall River.

Housing Minister John Lohr has approved a 120-unit building on Ingram Drive.

It was turned down by city council in 2022 after a tie vote on the project, but the government is using its power under new legislation to push it ahead.

Residents in the area had concerns about increased traffic, neighbourhood safety and congestion over the project.

The plan is to have the land ready for construction in the fall.
