3 people left living at Grand Parade, 1 removed by police at Victoria Park

One month after HRM gave notice for five out and 11 designated tent sites to vacate, only three people remain at Grand Parade.

The city says there was one person at Victoria Park Friday morning, but they left with the help of police.

Staff continue to have conversations with those who are left about where they can go.

HRM says that if indoor options don’t or can’t work for someone, they suggest another encampment, such as the designated location on the Barrington Street green space, because it has power.

Contractors are involved and fences are up as cleanup efforts continue at these locations.

The Correctional Centre Park in Lower Sackville was vacated earlier this week.

There were 55 people staying at the de-designated encampments as of February 7, when the eviction notice was issued.
