A 68-year-old man suffered serious injuries after he was hit by a car in Lower Sackville on Sunday.
The RCMP says he was cycling on the sidewalk of Cobequid Road when a car drove off the road and hit him at about 4 p.m., according to a news release from the RCMP.
The Lower Sackville man was taken to hospital.
A 27-year-old woman drove the car, a Pontiac Vibe, and police say she showed signs of impairment.
On the side of the road, police say they tested the driver’s breath samples, which “failed” a test on a police screening device.
Police arrested the woman. At the Lower Sackville RCMP Detachment, police say breathalyzer tests showed her blood alcohol level was over 170mg per cent.
The woman, from Head of Chezzetcook, was released. She will appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court on June 10 to face charges of operating a vehicle over the legal blood alcohol limit of 80mg per cent and impaired driving causing bodily harm.
