First few residents move into tiny homes in Lower Sackville

A big day for HRM with the first few residents moving into the tiny home community in Lower Sackville.

Tenants will slowly start to set up shop in the homes Tuesday, a few at a time.

Joe Rudderham with the Atlantic Community Shelters Society says three to four people will move in, three to four days a week.

The province says they hope to open another 29 units in December.

Showers, kitchens and wraparound supports will be available to provide a more permanent place to live for its residents.

The project is a collaboration between the provincial and municipal governments, The Shaw Group and Dexter Construction.

The province spent $9.4 million in the fall of 2023 for construction and will provide $935,000 every year for operating costs.
