UPDATE: Evacuations lifted after gas leak in Dartmouth

A natural gas leak in Dartmouth has been resolved.

A mandatory evacuation was in place for areas around Pinecrest after a leak was discovered earlier Tuesday afternoon.

The province issued an emergency alert for the Halifax area, it’s now been lifted.

Eastward Energy say the leak was at the intersection of Pinecrest Drive and Jackson Road, and caused by a third party.

They say they worked quickly to isolate it and prevent the release of more gas.

Nova Scotia Power had also shut off electricity to the area for safety reasons.

The Mic Mac Mall says they’re remaining closed for the rest of the day.
