Update 12pm: Cobequid Community Health Centre reopens after boiler issue

The Cobequid Community Health Centre is reopening after being closed due to an issue with one of the boilers.

In a post on X at about 8 a.m. on Thursday, Nova Scotia Health asked patients, staff and community members not to attend the facility in Lower Sackville until further notice.

A Halifax Professional Firefighters social media post says crews responded to alarms at the building just after 6:30 a.m. Thursday.

They determined that the heavy smoke was originating from a mechanical/boiler room where extremely high levels of toxic gases were present.

Crews safely isolated the source and ventilated the facility. They brought the situation under control and cleared the scene by 8:15 a.m.

The health authority issued an update just before 11:30 a.m. to say the CCHC would reopen at noon.
