More than 500 tickets issued overnight as Halifax winter parking ban continues

Halifax Regional Police issued over 500 parking tickets overnight as the municipality continues enforcing its winter parking ban.

Police say 507 tickets were handed out last night for violating the overnight ban, which restricts on‑street parking during snow-clearing operations. Officers also seized 11 vehicles under the Motor Vehicle Act for blocking snow removal or winter maintenance work.

The winter parking ban will remain in effect overnight Tuesday, January 27, from 1 a.m. to 6 a.m. in both the Central and Non‑Central zones.

Police say following the ban helps crews safely and effectively clear streets after snowfalls and during storm-related cleanup. The fine for ignoring the winter parking ban in Nova Scotia is $86.60.
