Hurricane Ida hammering Louisiana Sunday, on the same date Katrina ravaged the region 16 years ago.
The National Hurricane Centre says the Category 4 storm is one of the most powerful to ever hit the U.S.

It has knocked out power to all of New Orleans, leaving hundreds of thousands of people without a way to beat the summer heat or to keep their food cold.
The strong winds have tore roofs off buildings and even reversed the flow of the Mississippi River.
One person has died as a result of the storm.
The hurricane centre reporting Ida became a tropical storm just after 6 a.m. on Monday.

Ida is set to move across the Tennessee Valley on Tuesday, becoming a post-tropical storm by mid-week.
It could pass through the Maritimes on Thursday or Friday, bringing some rain and wind.
