NSTU: Nearly 700 COVID-19 cases connected to N.S. schools

Nearly 700 cases of COVID-19 have been linked to Nova Scotia’s schools since the pandemic began.

The Nova Scotia Teachers Union has posted a freedom of information record to social media from the province’s Department of Health and Wellness.

It summarizes all potential exposure locations of positive COVID-19 cases from March 2020 to the end of April 2021.

The NSTU says schools represented the highest number of potential exposures at public spaces.

The union adds many more school-connected cases haven’t been included as they were confirmed in May and June.

The summary also reports nearly 1,800 possible exposures in public spaces, 375 in workplaces, and 223 in retail shopping centres.
