Residents in Preston voting for new MLA

Polls are open in the riding of Preston as residents vote for a new MLA.

The Halifax area riding has been a Liberal stronghold for nearly two decades.

The byelection is necessary because Angela Simmonds stepped down in April, about 18 months after first being elected.

The outcome will not have a significant impact on the balance of power in Nova Scotia, the PC’s still have a strong majority.

Voters have until 8 o’clock tonight get their ballots in.
