Search and rescue help 6 youths out of Blue Mountain area

Likely a nerve-wracking few hours for six young people and their families after the youths needed help out of the Blue Mountain Wilderness Area, Saturday night.

Halifax Search and Rescue says the call came in at about 8:30 p.m. for the group who needed assistance.

Team members started looking around 9:30 p.m. and two hours later the youths were found about 2 km into the woods.

Halifax Search and Rescue says a multi-agency team safely escorted them out to waiting family members.

Blue Mountain is a wilderness area that is over 1,700 hectares, about the size of the peninsula, at the edge of the city between the Bayer’s Lake Business Park, Kingswood and Tantallon.
