Pro-Palestine encampment dismantled after more than two months

A Pro-Palestine encampment has been dismantled after it occupied space on the Studley Quad in Halifax for more than two months.

According to a post from the “students4liberatedpalestinehfx” social media account, the encampment was closed after 78 days in total.

Dalhousie closed their campus because of the encampment in the afternoon on Monday, according to an email from the university.

University security attempted to dismantle the encampment early Monday morning, according to the CBC.

It’s unclear if the encampment was dismantled by Dalhousie security or by police.

But according to the social media account for the encampment, some protesters had moved into the Rowe Management Building, down the road from the Studley Quad.

A student who participated in the encampment previously told our newsroom that the students wanted the university to disclose their investments and divest from the ones that support Israel’s war efforts.
