Police warn of chimney repair scam

Halifax police and the RCMP are warning people of a chimney and roofing repair scam.

Police say they received 4 calls about the scam between Jan. 5th and 10th, according to a news release.

A group of four men were allegedly going door-to-door and offering to repair chimneys.

Some homeowners paid for the service and the men demolished their chimneys.

But then the group would request more money to finish the job.

Police say the men never finished any of the work.

Based on information collected so far in the investigation, police believe the company is fictitious. Officers say the group is using a “very convincing construction website” to convince people they are real.

If anyone has information related to the case, police ask them to call 902-490-5020.

The investigation continues.
