Dartmouth Cove feedback wanted at public meeting

If you want to know more about the proposed by-law changes for Dartmouth Cove, you can have your chance Monday night.

Friends of Dartmouth Cove says there is a public meeting at Micmac Aquatic Club to discuss the possible changes and how it would impact the project.

According to the city, changing the by-laws would prohibit most infilling activities in the Cove.

It has been a hot button topic in the community for years with the possibility of nearly 100,000 cubic metres of pyritic slate being dumped into the water – nearly three football fields.

Transport Canada approved the project last spring but rescinded that just a few months later after MP for Dartmouth-Cole Harbour, Darren Fisher, wrote a letter discouraging the go ahead.

The project is still waiting on approval from the Department of Fisheries and Oceans.
