Heritage group hoping to save Halifax Alehouse from demolition

A Halifax heritage building could be up for demolition, but a Nova Scotia group is trying to prevent that from happening.

The Heritage Trust says the Ramia Group of Companies has applied for a permit to tear down the Halifax Alehouse.

In a petition, the trust says this would destroy another piece of the city’s history.

The court ordered the Alehouse to close in the fall, after a man man died following an alleged assault outside the bar in 2022.

The Ramia Goup bought the building in December.

It was built in 1893.
