A Special Day At the Bluenose Marathon

Phil O’Hara and Brad Crossley touched many yesterday when they participated in the Bluenose Marathon. Phil had always wanted to take part in the Bluenose and Sunday he got to check it off his Bucket List. Phil has been diagnosed with terminal cancer and could not run the full 10K race, so he walked across the start line, then he was wheeled by his friends. Phil and Brad Crossley met through Big Brother/Big Sisters over 40 years ago and have been best friends ever since! Brad and friends who Phil called his “Second Wind” helped wheel Phil around the route and then the life-long pals walked across the finish line. In the process, they helped raise $10,000. for the organization that paired them together decades ago. Phil was a Halifax Mooseheads Billet for former goalie Alex Gravel during his five seasons here in Moose Country. Congrats to my friend Phil and his running team for seeing a dream come true and for being such an inspiration for all of us! -Ian Photo credits via Phil O’Hara and Jer Lethbridge on Facebook
