Moose Country Fans Mourn and Remember Jiri Suchy

The Halifax Mooseheads and our fans are sad to hear of the loss of one of our former players Jiri Suchy who tragically lost his life in a recent car accident and was only was 36 years old.

I remember that Jiri was a solid defenceman with the Herd who was big hitter and that he would knock opponents into next week with his heavy checks!

His style of play brought fans out of their seats at the then Halifax Metro Centre.

Jiri played 118 games with the Herd between 2005 and 2007.

My son’s still have Jiri’s hockey card.

After his time here in Moose Country, he returned to the Czech Republic where he continued is hockey career.

Former teammate Bryce Swan says “oh no, hands down the hardest hitter I have ever played with. This hurts. RIP Such.”

Long-time fan Moosemanic Myles says “Jiri was such a super guy, always talked to him about everything, not just hockey. If I had a son I would want him to be just like Jiri. RIP Jiri, my condolences to his family and friends.”

and former Mooseheads Trainer Chris McQuaid says: “A great fellow and gentlemen and hockey player…..RIP Juri”
