Local Halifax QMJHL Referee Retires

Congrats to Halifax based QMJHL Referee # 29 Josh DeYoung who worked his last game the league on Sunday afternoon here in Moose Country.

After 17 seasons, 422 regular season games and 42 playoff games, Josh has hung up the Q referee jersey and put away the whistle.

Yesterday at the Mooseheads game, when I announced his retirement, fans gave him a warm round of applause on his achievement while he was on the big screen.

Those 17 seasons equals thousands and thousands of kilometers on Maritime roads.

Josh actually officiated my son Drake when he played high school hockey for the John A Flames in Tantallon and more recently Drake has worked with Josh in the Maritime Hockey League (MHL) in rinks around Nova Scotia.

Good luck and thanks for your dedication over the years, Josh!
