The Halifax Thunderbirds Trade Dawson Theede

A big trade from “The Nest” today.

The Halifax Thunderbirds have acquired a 2028 first-round pick from the Oshawa FireWolves in exchange for forward Dawson Theede.

With the addition of this pick, the Thunderbirds now hold multiple first-round selections in two of the next three drafts.

The team is slated to pick in the first round three times in the 2026 NLL Draft, along with the two first-rounders in 2028.

Along with being a fan favourite with the Thunderbirds, Dawson also has an impressive hockey resume playing in the QMJHL.

Between 2015 and 2018, he played for Saint John Sea Dogs, Acadie-Bathurst Titan and Gatineau Olympiques, before playing Atlantic University Sport hockey with the St. Mary’s University Huskies.

When Dawson played for the Huskies from 2018 to 2023, my son Drake, an Atlantic University Sport Referee, officiated his games and says he plays hockey like lacrosse, rough!
