Emera Oval opens for summer season

It is June in Halifax, and that means the summer season has begun at the Emera Oval.

The concrete oval in the commons officially opened Monday morning.

They offer free rentals for helmets, as well as skateboards, scooters, bicycles, roller blades, and more.

They even have some adult tricycles.

All you need for the free rental is a government photo ID.

The oval is open this month from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekdays, and noon to 8 p.m. on weekends. It is open a bit later in July and August, going until 9 p.m.

The rentals will close again in October ahead of the winter, when the Oval will turn back into a skating rink.
