A 67-year-old man has been charged after RCMP executed a search warrant at his home and found evidence of child sexual abuse and exploitation material (CSAEM).
Back in April, the RCMP’s Chid Exploitation Unit was tipped off by a social media platform that CSAEM was being distributed through their site.
Then, on Wednesday, July 22, the unit joined Pictou County RCMP and Integrated Street Crime Enforcement in executing the search warrant on Glen Road East in Central Caribou. Teams seized electronics and firearms.
The man was taken into custody and will appear in court on July 28.
Investigators note that they believe additional victims, who are now adults, may have been targeted dating back several years. They say anyone who thinks they might have been victimized is encouraged to contact police.
RCMP wants to remind people that they recognize that these crimes can have lasting impacts on victims, regardless of how much time has passed, and says support services are available, including through RCMP Victim Services, adding that there’s no time limit on reporting sexual offences.
