If you missed the afternoon drive show today (as I am filling in for Jody, while he fills in for Ian [who is fillin’ his boots, probably at a beach somewhere]), we were talking about some IDEAS for a perfect summer day – especially when it is as hot as it is THIS week.
My perfect summer day would always involve:
Breakfast at Rose and Rooster (preferably on their backyard patio)
4-5 hours of hanging out at Lawrencetown Beach (beginning at low tide, so you can get as much sand as possible)
Lunch at Lawrencetown Cafe
A nap (because ANY perfect day involves a nap, in my opinion)
Dinner somewhere lovely – like maybe the 7 course tasting menu at Lupin in West Petpeswick, or Oxalis in Dartmouth (note: clearly, in my ‘perfect day’, money is not an issue – a girl can dream)
But I also asked YOU and here are some of the answers you gave:
Hope For Wildlife
It is open 12-3 Wednesdays to Saturdays! FREE admission, and on Wednesdays and Saturdays they also give a guided tour!
Hit Up a Beach
We have sooooo many to choose from! I’m partial to Lawrencetown, because that’s my hood, but Crystal Crescent, Rainbow Haven, and Conrads are also close to Halifax and Dartmouth. Or, if you want to do some lake swimming, you could try Chocolate Lake, Kearney Lake, or Lake Banook!
Ghost Walk
A 1 hour 40 minute walk around downtown Halifax, learning about all of our supernatural history! It runs every night at 8:30, but for THIS WEEK there are also some 6pm walks!
Boat Tour
It would take me forever to list ALL of the boat tour options because there are SO many to choose from, whether you’re looking for a tour of a popular area, or a themed party boat! I’ve included the link to Ambassatours (which has OUR Country 1035 Party Cruise every Friday), but you can also google it for other local options.
A Park Stroll
Again, way too many to list here. However, The Public Gardens and Sullivan’s Pond both have live entertainment on designated days so you can enjoy a walk AND a show!
Be a tourist in your own Province!
Take a day trip to Peggy’s Cove, enjoy Wine in the Valley, or sightseeing in Lunenburg! Even hopping on the Harbour Hopper could be a really fun way to beat the heat while playing tourist for a while.
