RCMP seize $113,000 worth of cannabis shipped from Ontario

The RCMP have seized drug shipments coming from Ontario, to Sydney, N.S..

The two packages contained illegal cannabis products that they estimate to be worth more than $113,000.

Officers began their investigation into a shipment of boxes suspected to contain illegal cannabis on July 24, then received a report on July 31 about a second shipment that was also suspected to be containing illegal products.

Cannabis products estimated at $113,000 of street value were seized by RCMP – SUBMITTED: RCMP

Both shipments were confirmed to have illegal products and were seized.

“As part of their operating procedures, courier companies report any packages they identify as containing illegal goods to law enforcement,” said Cpl. Gary McLaughlin, Northeast Traffic Services – Cape Breton. “This is instrumental in helping police intercept shipments of illegal goods.”

The investigation is still ongoing, and no charges have been laid at this time.
