A man is facing a list of charges including attempted murder after an emergency alert in Bedford over the weekend.
RCMP say it was Saturday morning when they learned a 31-year-old woman had been shot by a man she knows in South Farmington.
The woman was taken to hospital, but the driver sped away. Officers monitored the vehicle in Beaver Bank as it headed to Lower Sackville.
About three hours later the car hit a tree while trying to drive along a hiking trail. The driver ran away prompting the alert which expanded to HRM.
A couple hours later, a 36-year-old man was then arrested. The gun used in the shooting remains missing.
He was scheduled for court Monday facing these charges:
- Attempted Murder
- Discharge a Firearm
- Careless Use of Firearm
- Possession of a Firearm Contrary to Order
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
- Unauthorized Possession in Motor Vehicle
- Possession of Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
- Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
- Pointing a Firearm
- Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
- Dangerous Operation of a Conveyance (two counts)
- Flight From Peace Officer
- Failure to Comply with Release Order (three counts)
