Attempted murder charge laid after Halloween party attack

A 22-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder in a Halloween party attack.

The Mounties say the New Glasgow man shot at a woman outside a home in Pictou during the early morning hours.

She was not hurt, ran inside, and locked the door.

The man smashed the door’s window to get into the residence, stabbing a person inside. That person sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect was then tackled by partygoers and seriously injured.

Dylan MacNeil is facing more than ten related charges:

  • Attempted Murder Using a Firearm;
  • Aggravated Assault;
  • Break and Enter and Commit;
  • Assault with a Weapon (2 counts);
  • Assault Causing Bodily Harm;
  • Uttering Threats to Cause Death or Bodily Harm;
  • Possession of a Weapon or Imitation;
  • Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose;
  • Careless Use of Firearm;
  • Using a Firearm in the Commission of an Offence;
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm;
  • Possession of a Firearm Knowing Possession is Unauthorized;
  • Endangering the Life of Any Person

MacNeil was remanded into custody with an appearance scheduled in Pictou Provincial Court on Tuesday.

The investigation is continuing.
