Boy, 12, charged after armed robbery at Dartmouth convenience store

A 12-year-old boy has been arrested after an armed robbery at a Dartmouth convenience store Thursday night.

Police responded to the Highfield Variety Store on Highfield Park Drive shortly after 7:30 p.m.

Witnesses reported the boy walked in with a gun and a plan to steal cash and cigarettes.

Police arrested him in the store and grabbed the weapon.

No one was hurt.

The youth has been charged with robbery with a firearm and related offences.

He was scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Youth Court on Friday.
